Our Involvement
Training programme on heritage management and disaster risk preparedness.
Drawing on our experience in heritage capacity building, we designed a programme that addressed current needs and long-term strategic priorities. The first course focused on heritage management with an emphasis on cultural tourism, while the second centred on disaster risk preparedness to protect heritage sites from foreseeable risks.
Both courses were structured around a historic tower within the Archaeological Site of Shamal, a significant location currently on the UNESCO Tentative List for future World Heritage nomination. The area has become an increasingly popular destination for people seeking to explore the cultural history of Ras al-Khaimah. Our approach aimed to enhance the site’s potential by supporting the Department’s efforts to maximise its tourism value and strengthen public engagement, while ensuring that its unique cultural significance remains protected.
