Our Involvement
The ambitious Genève Montagne Centre in Switzerland served as a pilot project for our company, providing us with the opportunity to showcase the effectiveness of our methodology.
Starting with a blank slate, we defined every aspect of the project – from concept to execution – working closely with the client and architects.
By combining theoretical research in information science, in geography and sociology with institutions and sites visits, we refined an innovative model for a multi-hub civic centre.
As ultimately designed, the Genève Montagne Centre consists of four buildings situated in a lush park. Three of the buildings, dating back to the 19th century, will be carefully renovated to preserve their historical and patrimonial value. Additionally, a new facility will be constructed to house both a museum and a restaurant.
The project includes: a library, a museum, a community centre, a restaurant, an environmental space, and outdoor sports facilities.

Culture
A library and a museum
As a result of an in-depth analysis of the future of public libraries, we have developed a service that goes beyond the traditional library model. The service encompasses a library, coworking and meeting rooms, a workshop, and a dedicated space for families.
In addition, a new building was planned to house a museum. Special attention was given to creating a flexible and modern space, while also adhering to the highest standards for the preservation of artworks.
Social
A family-friendly space fostering community
The second pillar of the project focuses on the social aspect, aiming to foster intergenerational connections and interactions across diverse social groups. To support this vision, shared spaces will be provided, along with services and activities tailored to various audiences.
Additionally, a restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining areas is planned to serve both visitors and users. It will focus on using local products to support regional producers.
Sport
Promoting health and well-being
The sports hub, developed with a policy of free access, has already been established in the park. It consists of unique outdoor facilities in the region, three climbing boulders and a slackline park, designed for recreational and training purposes.
Following its great success, over ten administrative authorities have expressed interest in replicating the project since its launch. A few of them have followed through and installed similar facilities.
Environment
Preserving biodiversity
The fourth and final pillar focuses on the park’s natural environment. Its floral and faunal qualities are considered an integral part of the heritage to be preserved and enhanced.
To protect and highlight the natural wealth of the site, several decisions were made in connection with the construction of the new building, including the preservation of key trees, the creation of a green roof, and the transplantation of flower beds.
To strengthen the connection with nature and raise awareness about environmental issues, a “nature space” was also planned. Set in a small structure to be restored, it will host exhibitions and serve as a starting point for various activities.
